In the United States, one in five citizens have a physical, sensory, and/or cognitive disability. Opportunities and access for persons with disabilities continue to be limited within the social, employment, physical, and information environments. Universities have long been places that foster ingenuity, where barriers are broken down and where progressive scientific and social changes are initiated. The President’s Council on Disability will provide education and recommendations to the University’s leadership, designed to strengthen this institution’s capacity, both on and off campus, to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities.
