Any individual who is dissatisfied with a determination by the Disability Resource Center or a department or unit within the University regarding disability or accommodation may request a review of the individual’s case by the ADA/504 Compliance Officer prior to filing an internal complaint with the University of Arizona's Office of Institutional Equity.
Neither supervisors, faculty, program sponsors, service units nor unit administrators may deny independently a request for accommodation, but first must consult the Disability Resource Center. If, after consultation, such individuals disagree on whether a proposed accommodation results in an undue hardship, a fundamental alteration of a program or activity, harms academic integrity or creates a direct threat, the ADA/504 Compliance Officer in consultation with the University Attorney’s Office makes a final determination.
Individuals who believe they have been discriminated against on the basis of disability may contact the University’s Office of Institutional Equity to file a complaint. Individuals must file complaints within 180 days of the most recent allegedly discriminatory act. The Office of Institutional Equity also maintains a list of external agencies with which complaints may be filed and the deadlines for filing such complaints.
