ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

In order to recruit some of the top junior athletes across the country, The University of Arizona offers Athletic Scholarship Awards (ASA's). Individuals interested in receiving one of these recruitment awards must make arrangements to visit the campus, provide an athletic resume and a list of references. Individuals are selected based on the information provided and the coaching staff's assessment of your athletic abilities. In order to be eligible to receive your scholarship allotment, you must successfully complete the application process through the Admissions Office.

As you know, The University of Arizona has a total of six Adaptive Athletic teams. While ASA recipients must be active in their primary sport, they may also participate on any of the sport teams as long as obligations to your primary sport are fulfilled. In order to remain eligible for the scholarship the following criteria must be met through the duration of your enrollment at the University:

  1. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
  2. Be an active member of your primary sport.
  3. Participate in the program development efforts.

Current maximum awards are $2,000.

Athletic Performance Award

Athletic Performance Awards (APA's) are principally based on an athlete's overall contribution to their primary sport; however, their involvement and support of other teams and program initiatives is also taken into consideration. The coaching staff selects one athlete from each active sport team in the spring of each year. These annual awards are available for the following academic year.

The APA dollar amount ranges from $200-$1,000.

The scholarships awarded through the Adaptive Athletic Program come from fundraised dollars, which are located in The Disability Resources's University of Arizona Foundation account. Half of the award is given at the beginning of each semester. In order to remain eligible the athlete must meet the same criteria listed above.
