The University of Arizona Wheelchair Rugby team are the National Champions for the 2017-2018 season.

“We’ve been working towards this for a long time,” said Assistant Coach Nate Miller. “Our athletes came together and overcame a lot of challenges this year, including the loss of our former assistant coach. As a team and department, we are elated.”

This is the first National Championship the Wildcats have won.

Nationals were held at the Ability 360 Center in Phoenix, Ariz. from April 19 through April 22. The team ended season pool play with a record of 21-6 and went undefeated in post-season play ranked no. 1.

The Wildcats’ final matchup was against the two-time defending champions from Phoenix. The championship game ended with an impressive 11-point victory.
