Paid Leadership Opportunity at the DRC!

DRC students,

The DRC is looking for Peer Mentors for the Fall 2008 semester! We know that it’s sometimes easier to talk to other students, and we want our new students to have that opportunity. The DRC Peer Mentors will have regular contact with new DRC students and hold office hours during which they will be available for walk-ins.

This is where you come in. We are looking for DRC students who want experience in a student leadership position. If you are registered with DRC, will have completed 30 units at the UA by Fall 2008, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50, we want you to apply for one of these four positions.

Here’s what you’ll do as a Peer Mentor:

• Hold eight office hours a week
• Contact students on a regular basis
• Report any student concerns to an Access Consultant
• Coordinate two programs
• Help students get adjusted to the UA

Here’s what you’ll get as a Peer Mentor:

• A $750 stipend
• 3 units of academic credit (Independent Study through SERP, with weekly classes tentatively scheduled for Wednesdays 3:00-5:30)
• An opportunity to participate in formal student leadership training
• An opportunity to develop your leadership skills
• An excellent leadership experience for your resume
