Residence Hall Accommodations

If you believe that a residence hall accommodation is necessary, please complete the Request for a Residence Hall Accommodation form. It can be submitted electronically or printed and sent to:

Disability Resource Center
Attn:  Sherry Santee
1224 E. Lowell St.
PO Box 210095
Tucson, AZ 85721

Once you have requested a residence hall accommodation, you will be contacted by DRC to ensure documentation is on file that supports your request.

Your room will be assigned through the Disability Resource Center. Your roommate will not necessarily be another disabled student but will be assigned by Residence Life. If you know of another student coming to the UA and you would both like to be roommates, you can request to be assigned to the same room.

Residence Hall Accommodations include, but are not limited to:

  • ADA accessible room or bathroom
  • Fire strobe equipped rooms
  • Attached / suite bathroom for close bathroom proximity or increased privacy
  • Single room
  • Extra refrigerator to store medication or meet dietary requirements

Please note that accommodations are only for your LIVING SPACE. Your residence hall room is not deemed your only location for studying, therefore requests for a single room based on studying issues will not be considered. Although there are a limited number of single rooms, all students can apply for a single through the general residence hall application process.

Accessible Bathroom and Room Features
Accessible community bathrooms and suite bathrooms have an accessible toilet, sink, and a roll-in shower equipped with a fold-down bench. We suggest that you bring a pad to use on the shower bench for cushioning if you need to take precautions with your skin. The bench does fold up if you prefer to bring your own shower chair. Suite bathrooms are generally shared between 4 students.

Other features of accessible rooms vary depending on the hall. Some rooms are equipped with remote automatic door openers. Single rooms can be provided if you use personal care givers, but most accessible rooms are doubles. There are room choices on a variety of floors.

Single room and private bathroom options are varied and limited. If you are eligible for these accommodations, hall options will be discussed with you.

Please review the hall options below. Although you are required to select 5 hall preferences on both Residence Life’s Application and the “Request for Residence Hall Accommodation” form, changes can be made once your eligibility for accommodations and appropriate halls are determined.
