Information for Grants & Funding Opportunities

Most federal RFPs, as well as other funding sources, require information on how a proposed project will ensure access for individuals with disabilities and comply with federal disability laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act. The following is sample text that can be modified to address the specific question asked in your proposal package. This Project prioritizes the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities and commits to ensuring that all Project activities will meet or exceed access standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The University of Arizona’s Disability Resource Center is nationally recognized as a model in creating seamless access for both students and employees with disabilities. The office serves over 2,000 students with disabilities, as well as faculty and staff with disabilities, and collaborates with a broad range of University personnel to ensure a welcoming campus experience for individuals with disabilities. Disability Resources has committed to partner with project staff in the following ways: (Authors should select possible partnerships and contact DRC to discuss details of implementation)

  • assist in the recruitment of students with disabilities to participate in the project through direct referral and active outreach on behalf of the project; 
  • consult with project staff on
    • the design of inclusive programs using principles of universal design
    • the development of an accessible project website using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA, standard
    • the selection of accessible electronic and information technology to support project goals, and
    • the identification of physically accessible on and off-campus locations in which to hold project activities.
  • support the delivery of reasonable accommodations when necessary to ensure the full participation of students with disabilities in all project programs and activities; and
  • train project and student staff in creating fully inclusive project activities and services
