Information for Instructors

The University of Arizona is committed to equal educational opportunities for students with disabilities and values the richness that disabled individuals bring to the campus community.  To support inclusion of all students, Disability Resources offers services, consultation, and support to both students and instructors.

Disability Resources subscribes to a new view of disability which has evolved from the disability rights movement, is explored by Disability Studies scholars and places disability in social, cultural and political contexts.  Under this paradigm, disability is viewed not as a deficit but as a natural human difference and access is explored though the redesign of campus environments using the tenets of universal design.  We encourage you to learn more about these concepts as you work with the disabled students in your courses.

Disability Resources is the office designated by the University to lead our community in the creation of welcoming campus environments.   In addition to working to reframe perspectives of disability, our staff also supports students individually by reviewing disability documentation and determining and planning for the reasonable accommodations that may be necessary for full access.
