New Leadership in the House
Tucson, Ariz., July 31, 2019 – The University of Arizona Adaptive Athletics program has hired Michael Beardsley as interim head coach for the Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team and recruiting coordinator for the program.
“Coach Beardsley has been a valuable assistant coach and program coordinator for several years at the UA. He had much success as the head coach of the Tucson Lobos last season and has developed great rapport with all of our student athletes. I am confident he will lead our players successfully, both in the classroom and on the court,” said Peter Hughes, UA Adaptive Athletics’ director.
A Tucson native, Beardsley graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. He has worked at the UA Disability Resource Center for nine years, first as a student worker and then as an assistant basketball coach and program coordinator.
Beardsley will lead the men’s team as they transition from NWBA’s Division I to the Collegiate Division this season and be the point of contact for all potential recruits for all seven sports offered.
“I’m expecting our team to make a splash! A new division provides new opportunities,” said Beardsley.
