FAQs - American Sign Language Interpreter Requests

Q.  When should I complete a request form for an ASL interpreter?

A.  When you receive a request for an ASL interpreter from a Deaf or hard-of-hearing (HOH) individual, submit the request.

Q.  Where/how do I request an ASL interpreter for a University of Arizona sponsored event?

A.   Request form is available on the Disability Resource Center website. Please have as much information ready to input as possible, i.e. location, number of attendees, etc.

Q.  What materials assist interpreters in providing the most accurate and effective interpretation?

A.  It is imperative to receive prep materials prior to the event, such as speaker names/bios, speeches, PowerPoints, video links, songs/lyrics, programs, etc.  Interpreting accuracy greatly increases when interpreters are able to prepare in advance.
