Career - Discover What You Know
1. Everyone makes it alone.
Nobody makes it alone! More jobs are found through networking than any other method. Do not wait until you need to job hunt to start networking. The earlier you start the better! Anyone that you know could lead you to the contact that hires you for your first job (family, friends, co-workers of your parents/siblings, neighbors, your friends' families, your doctors, etc.). Do not be shy about trying to explain your situation and ask for advice!
2. You need the same mentor for your entire professional life.
Most mentoring relationships are short term, under two years. This varies greatly and there are no set rules. It is possible to have a mentor for decades, however, this is usually not the case. Mentors are there to help you master the stage in life. Because of this, as you advance through life, you will probably have several different mentors.
3. There are tons of resources to help you make career choices.
The question of what do I do with my life effects everyone, and not only that, it is a running theme in most of our lives. This is great news! You are not alone in this. The internet is a great resource for any idea you may have, there is information online, no doubt. Seek and you shall find.
