As the Fall semester ends, we want to wish you all a safe and relaxing winter break!
Information for Students
If you are planning on taking a Winter Session course, we want you to be aware of a few things. During winter session, your course instructor(s) will be implementing the reasonable accommodations you request. To be sure that your Winter Session experience is smooth, please follow these reminders:
- Request accommodations to activate accommodations. This will provide your name and accommodations to your instructor.
- Notify your instructor as soon as possible of your plan to use accommodations to allow time to coordinate accommodations.
- Requests for alternative formats and accessible videos should be made as soon as possible, as these require time to process.
- If you anticipate using other accommodations that may require coordination in advance, contact an Access Consultant as soon as possible.
DRC staff will be available to discuss Winter Session classes through December 23rd. If you have questions about access or accommodations after that time, talk with your course instructor.
Information for Instructors
DRC Staff is available to discuss accommodations and accessible course design before December 23rd at (520) 621-3268 or disability@arizona.edu.
During the closure, course instructors will have primary responsibility for creating accessible academic experiences. This includes ensuring that accommodations determined to be reasonable for each student are in place. After December 23rd, if consultation is needed, please email disability@arizona.edu and a DRC staff member will follow up with you.
The following information will support you in responding to requests for reasonable accommodations as you plan your Winter Session class:
- View the accommodations requested by students in your courses by accessing the DRC's Instructor Login.
- Include the Accessibility and Accommodations statement on your syllabus: "At the University of Arizona we strive to make learning experiences as accessible as possible. If you anticipate or experience barriers based on disability or pregnancy, please let me know immediately so that we can discuss options."
- Test Accommodations:
- Have a plan in place to provide test accommodation if requested.
- The most commonly requested test accommodation is extended test time and is viewable for each student through the DRC Instructor Login.
- Please contact DRC prior to December 23rd to discuss any concerns.
